| Using Database Manager |
|
|
Database Manager cannot be used until you have
ASIST Enterprise installed.
|
| Login and configure |
|
Because Database Manager provides powerful tools
that enable changes to your database environment it requires that
you login as the ADMIN user. The screen below depicts the initial
configuration form.
To connect to your Login and Enterprise databases click the
folder icon to the right of each respective line. Using the browse
form navigate to and select the appropriate file.
After you have connected to both databases type the ADMIN
password in the password box and click the green Login button. After
logging in the navigation window will appear like the screenshot
below.

Each item listed in the list is a different action that can be
performed by the Database Manager. Detailed instructions for each
item follow. |
|
| Import from Access database |
| If you have data in external sources you can import them into
Enterprise by formatting them into our Access template. Microsoft
Access provides all the tools needed to retrieve your information
from your data source. All you need to do is format your information
to match our database design. To get a template, i.e. blank Access
database, use the Create blank Access database tool below.
|
| Create blank Access database |
| This option allows you to create a blank template database to use
for importing information. Click the icon and follow the onscreen
instructions to write the template database to your disk.
|
| Delete database records |
| This is a very powerful tool and should be used carefully. Delete
operations, once completed, cannot be undone. Click the icon and a
record selection screen like the one below will appear.

You can only delete records by application module. The following
screens demonstrate how you would use the tool to delete certain
outfall records. First you would open the outfall folder.

Next make your selection. In this example the Delete all Outfalls
choice was selected.

If you are sure you want to continue click the Delete button.
Because this operation cannot be undone you will be required to
confirm the delete operation by clicking the red CONFIRM DELETE
button that appears.

|
| Compact database |
Normal operations of the ASIST Enterprise software will probably
never require that you use this tool. If you have deleted large
quantities of information from your database you may want to compact
it to save space. Click the icon and follow the onscreen prompts.
